Tucked away in downtown Naples on 332 8th St N, Naples, Florida, lies a hidden gem called The Garden of Hope and Courage. The garden is located on the grounds of the NCH Baker hospital and was created in memory of Jen Emfield, who died from cancer in 1994. I had the opportunity to visit the 2.5 acres garden in June 2021 while vacationing in Florida.

We were greeted by a commemorative plaque on the hospital wall.

The garden is a sanctuary for patients and families to quiet their minds while waiting or visiting loved ones admitted to the hospital. The long waits for loved ones are made easy and less stressful, surrounded by the warm embrace of nature. Hospital staff can also soak in some peace and relaxation.

The lake is the centerpiece of this gorgeous garden, and the reflection of the sky in the water makes it a masterful work of art.

Curious ducks wade in close to say hello and effortlessly swim away.

There are a variety of tropical trees, plants, and sculptures strategically placed in a circle around the lake, highlighting the cascading water feature.

Benches donated in the memory of loved ones are strategically placed to afford spectaculars from every angle.

The Pavilion has a trellis that is covered with a stunning bougainvillea tree.

There are a variety of plants and flowers, including bamboo, canna lilies, and bromeliads.

The Garden of Hope and Courage is truly a gem and place for quiet reflection.

The garden is open from 9 am-9 pm Tuesday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
